The pliable indicator component (25) is arranged to be bent by the effect of the concrete which passes it and emits an electrical signal which depends upon its extent of bending. An evaluation circuit in the form of a processor calculates the average value of the signal varying during measurement. The average value constitutes a measurement of the concrete viscosity and thereby its stiffness. The indicator component incorporates a rod (27) or similar which is elastically suspended in relation to the concrete mixer wall (28) at its one end (29). This end is connected to an indicator (30) in the form of a bending load indicator. The other free end of the rod extends into the mixer. Two or more indicator components are placed at different points in the mixer and the evaluation circuit forms an average value of the electrical output signals of the different components.
