PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass substrate for a magnetic disk with high accuracy at a low cost. SOLUTION: A glass material before press forming is subjected to the heat treatment at >=300 deg.C for >=1 hour in a vacuum atmosphere or to the heat treatment at >=100 deg.C for >=3 hours in a dry nitrogen atmosphere or to the both of the above heat treatments.
