The device has audio, video and IR detectors which are mounted within an area to be monitored. Outgoing information is stored locally and connected to a central unit with a first transceiver. A remote controller (60) receives information from outside the monitored area and transmits a control signal to the area receiver. A second transceiver (66,68) in the remote control area receives information transmitted by the first transceiver. A read circuit (76) is connected to a cockpit selection source (74) and selects one of the cockpit transmitted signals.
