The invention concerns a method for inhibiting desoxyribonucleotide triphosphate biosynthesis by cells, comprising an application of these cells on at least one of the azo derivatives corresponding to the formula (I), in which R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> = H, Hal, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon, R<1> and R<2> as well as R<3> and R<4> capable of forming a heterocyclic compound with their adjacent N, X<1> and X<2> = O or NR<5>, where R<5> = H, Hal, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon, or a nitro group, and the use of these derivatives for preparing medicines to be administered in cases requiring from the cells an abnormal production of DNA.
