The releasing unit operates a chuck (3) connected to a working spindle (4) and having a traction rod (5) able to be adjusted in the axial direction of the spindle. The chuck has at least one locking element (9) which can be engaged with a coupling ring (7). The coupling ring and the locking element have complementary structures on the lock-key principle. The lock has an encoding bolt which, in the release position, can be inserted through an aperture into a groove in the key when the key is at a certain angle, and turned to the locking position behind the grooved wall.
