An oyster tray for holding, displaying and opening bivalve shellfish e.g. oysters, has its surface made with a series of recesses (2) shaped to receive one oyster each, with an anchor (3) adjacent to each recess shaped to receive a gripper on the device for opening the shellfish, e.g. a wire passed round its adductor muscle. The tray recesses are set in staggered rows, and can be rectangular, circular or oval in shape, depending on the type of shellfish they hold. The anchors can be in the form of two lugs with a gap between them sufficiently wide for the wire ends to pass through but not the gripper, and the edges of the tray can have projecting spacers (4a, 4b) for stacking.
