摘要 FIELD: aviation instrumentation. SUBSTANCE: measurement of intensity of penetrating radiations is conducted in two points located on vertical at fixed distance of one from another at moment of lift-off of aircraft from starting surface and these values are memorized. Values of present intensities are measured and flight altitude is calculated by formula H= b-alnlnI<SB>2</SB> / I<SB>1</SB>, where I<SB>1</SB>,I<SB>2</SB> are values of present intensities; a, b are proportionality factors whose values are determined by starting values of intensities and measurement range. Device for realization of method has two pickups 1 and 2 positioned on flying aircraft at fixed distance along vertical axis of aircraft and manufactured in the form of detectors of ionizing radiations, divider 3, lift-off contact 4, key 5, storage 6, master unit 7, two multipliers 8 and 9, two logarithm taking units 10 and 11 and subtracter 12 with proper couplings.
