The panels of thermal insulation material (I) are placed against the inside of the ship's hull between the frames (S). The frames have holes (S1) near to the hull through which omega-shaped spring clips (K) are clipped. The ends of the clips are turned over and lie on top of the insulation panels. Springs link the ends of the clips to form a retaining mesh over the insulation layer on the inside of the hull. The shape and spacing of the mesh is selected to ensure a secure hold for the panels.
