A DECODING TECHNIQUE FOR TAIL BITING CODES

A method for decoding encoded digital data. A decoder generates a replicated decoding trellis and performs some number D<max> of decoding operations using the replicated trellis. Each decoding pass is offset by some amount delta , and the results of each pass are stored and compared with prior results to generate a final output information sequence.
