The apparatus is manually propelled and the holes are arranged in the lower cross-sectional area of the horizontal pipe (6) closely above the surface of the tennis court. The apparatus is provided with a flowingly arranged hose conduit, whereby the hose (21) used for feed of water at its end turned away from the apparatus is wound onto a drum (16). The hose can be wound from the drum (16) by overcoming a setback force which is so great that the hose is wound onto the drum when the setback force is reduced. The drum is pivotable around a vertical axis. A tennis court is provided with two drums, of which one is positioned to the right of the net and the other to the left.
