<p>The present invention relates to a reusable prevailing torque, self-locking fastener (60). The fastener (60) comprises a fastener body (62) having a continuous internal cylindrical surface (64) and a continuous external cylindrical surface (66); ```a first set of threads (68) disposed on said internal cylindrical surface (64); and ```a second set of threads (70) disposed on said external cylindrical surface (66). The fastener (60) further comprises first and second patches (72,74) of resilient thermoplastic resin material adheringly applied to said first and second sets of threads respectively by spraying a stream of powdered resin onto said first and second sets of threads (68,70) that have been preheated to a temperature above the melting point of said resin. The present invention thereby provides an insert which is both less expensive to produce and more effective than conventional self-locking fasteners.</p> |
