An airbag device 13 comprises an airbag 3 and an inflator 4 received within a case 2 and a diffuser 5 covering the inflator, the diffuser may be provided with a partition wall 51 to partition the part of the case between the diffuser and the case opening into two parts, one 8 for storing the airbag and one forming a gas guiding passage 7. Means may be provided to give an uneven flow of inflating gas, such that more gas is guided into one part of the airbag than another, eg a plurality of gas delivery openings 52 may be formed in the diffuser and distributed asymmetrically between two sides thereof (fig 4). In its folded state the airbag may be divided into two sections 32 and 33, each received in a separate part of the case 81 and 82. The two sections may be folded in different manners, eg rolled and folded in bellows form. The airbag device may be instrument panel mounted passenger airbag with a cylindrical inflator extending transversely relative to the vehicle. Gas delivery openings may be formed on both sides of the partition wall (if present) preferably with more formed on one side than the other. |
