Telecommunications cable for high bit rate signals

The telecommunications cable contains multiple individually insulated conductors(3-4) enclosed as a group by a first insulating sheath (5). This sheath is enclosed by a screen (6) having a metallic face and an insulating face. An outer sheath (7) made of an insulating material encloses the screen. To aid identification of the conductors enclosed in the cable, the outer sheath carries markings (B1,B2) either along its length or spirally around its periphery. The markings are formed by extrusion of coloured filaments of a plastic material as the outer sheath is being formed. The filaments may include a fluorescent material to aid visibility in low light.
