<p>A sequential batch reactor 1 comprises a primary settlement tank 2 having an inlet 10 for introducing effluent into the reactor, an aerobic digestion tank 13 for liquid phase aerobic digestion having an outlet 23 for transferring digested effluent from the reactor, means 20 for transferring effluent from the primary settlement tank to the aerobic digestion tank and means for transferring treated effluent from the aerobic digestion tank to a drain or sewage system. Preferably, both the settlement and digestion tanks are rotationally moulded, with the digested tank being received within the settlement tank. A transfer compartment 17 may be provided intermediate the settlement tank and aerobic digestion tank.</p> |
