PURPOSE:To realize a large-scale optical switching array which performs a bidirectional switching by providing terminals in a 1st group with plural 1st light sources and 2nd photodetectors alternately in series and forming plural 2nd light sources and 1st photodetectors alternately in series for terminals in a 2nd group. CONSTITUTION:The 1st light sources 431 - 434 and 2nd photodetectors 521 - 524 are formed alternately in series for the terminals 411 - 414 in the 1st group, the 1st photodetectors 471 - 474 and 2nd light sources 511 - 514 are formed alternately in series for the terminals 491 - 494 in the 2nd group, and a shutter array 45 is provided between them. Transmission parts of the shutter array 45 are switched to switch photodetectors where the transmitted light of light emitted by the light sources is made incident selectively. The terminals in the 1st and 2nd groups are provided with those light sources and photodetectors in pairs, so the connection destinations of the respective terminals are switched to perform the bidirectional transmission. |
