Toner quantity detection device

A detection device (700) for providing an indication of the quantity of toner in a toner delivery path in image forming equipment is provided. The detection device comprises a window (710) through which radiation can pass which is insertable in a wall (220) defining the toner delivery path, and an optical sensor (730) for detecting radiation passing through the window and the toner passing along path and being reflected off reflector (720), the quantity of radiation detected being indicative of an amount of toner in the toner delivery path. The bevelled window (710) is kept free of toner by screw (510) which moves toner along the path.
