摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte composition for a fuel cell with high acid-resistant property and low water absorbing property, and a fuel cell using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The electrolyte composition for a fuel cell contains a polymeric electrolyte material having a principal chain part of carbonaceous skeleton and a graft side chain part grafted on the principal chain, having a chemical structure shown by formula (1); -[CH<SB>2</SB>CHä-(A<SP>1</SP>-SO<SB>2</SB>-A<SP>2</SP>-B-)<SB>n</SB>-A<SP>3</SP>-SO<SB>3</SB>H}]<SB>m</SB>. In the formula, A<SP>1</SP>to A<SP>3</SP>denote p-, m-, or o-phenylene/naphtylene of which structure is independently decided; or repetition of two or more of p-, m-, or o-phenylene/naphtylene; B denotes O, S, CH<SB>2</SB>, or NH; n and m are an integer of one or higher, decided independently. Concretely, it is preferable to have a polymer electrolyte material having a chemical structure expressed by formula (3).
