PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a leukemia medicine containing 9-cis-retinoic acidα-tocopherol ester, little in side effects, and effective at a low dose. SOLUTION: This leukemia medicine contains 9-cis-retinoic acidα-tocopherol ester of the formula as an active ingredient. The leukemia medicine contains the compound of the formula and 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 , or the compound of the formula and 9-cis-retinoic acid as active ingredients. The compound of the formula itself has an activity to inhibit the proliferation of leukemic calls and an action an inducing the differentiation of the leukemia cells, but the simultaneous use of the vitamin D3 or the 9-cis-retinoic acid exhibits synergistic effects. The compound of the formula and the 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 are administered at daily doses of 10-1200mg and 0.005-5μg, respectively, per an adult, and the compound of the formula and the 9-cis-retinoic acid are also administered at daily doses of 10-1200mg and 1-80mg, respectively, per an adult. The leukemia medicine is especially effective for acute promyelocytic leukemia and lymphoma. |
