PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current limiter which includes a superconducting element which can be connected to an electric circuit and has a critical current density. SOLUTION: A current limiter includes a 1st superconducting element 4 which can be connected to an electric circuit. The superconducting element 4 has a critical current density. The start of a defect state is detected by a 2nd superconducting element 12. In response to the 2nd superconducting element 12, a relation between the critical current density and a current produced in the 1st superconducting element 4 is changed by a coil 13. By this change, the state of the 1st superconducting element is transferred to a resistive state. |
