PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of securing a paper passing operation and fixing performance which are stable regardless of a paper passing mode by suppressing an irregularity of temp. in the longitudinal direction of a heating medium, without decreasing a throughput. SOLUTION: This fixing device is provided with a temperature sensor 6b for detecting the temp. in a region outside a minimum paper passing width and inside a maximum paper passing width, that is, a paper nonpassage region, in a fixing roller 1 and a cooling fan 14 for executing a fixed operation of cooling a region, based on the temp. detected by the temperature sensor 6b. The cooling fan 14 is operated when the temp. detected by the sensor 6b becomes a first fixed temp. or more. On the other hand, when the temp. detected by the sensor 6b becomes a second fixed temp. or more, regardless of an execution of a cooling operation by the cooling fan 14, a control part 15 stops the energization of a coil for heating and the carrying of a recording material S. |
