PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is increased in an aperture ratio and is enhanced in a display grade by preventing crosstalks. SOLUTION: Metallic light shielding films 102 are formed on a TFT(thin-film transistor) side substrate 1 formed with common electrodes 104 and video signal lines 106 in the liquid crystal display device of an IPS system composed of the TFT side substrate 101, a counter side substrate 2 and a liquid crystal layer 3. These metallic light shielding films 102 are so formed that their planes overlap on the video signal lines 106 and that adequate potential is applied. Visual field angle characteristics are improved and the crosstalks by the potential impressed on the metallic light shielding films 102 are suppressed. In addition, the smaller margin for the arrangement of the metallic light shielding films 102 is allowed, by which the area of the metallic light shielding films is reduced and the aperture ratio is consequently improved. |
