PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly, easily defrost frozen water by supplying a medium having a fusing point lower than water to a medium flow path arranged in the vicinity of a water path when humidifying water is frozen in the water path. SOLUTION: When a fuel cell is used in a cold district, humidifying water in a humidifying part 14 freezes. To prevent freezing, a medium flow path 44 for supplying a medium having a fusing point lower than water is arranged in the vicinity of water paths 40a-40f, between second supply plates 24a, 24b. When water freezes and the pressure in a water circulation line increases, pressure increase is automatically detected, and a medium is supplied to a medium inlet 66. The medium flows to a medium outlet 74 along the medium flow path 44 as a nonfreezing medium, and exchanges heat with frozen water in the water paths 40a-40f through the supply plates 24a, 24b. A humidifier can easily, surely defrost frozen water in the humidifying part 14 with simple constitution. |
