PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely restrain an occupant by an air bag during its expansion. SOLUTION: In this energy absorbing structure of a car body side part having a side face clashing air bag device 41 developed between a car body side wall part constituting the car body side part and an occupant, an impact detecting means for detecting an impact force inputted to a car body and a control means for developing an air bag based on a signal from the impact detecting means, and the air bag device 41 is housed in a seat back 3 and an air bag 48 is developed in a car body front side from one side face of a car body side opposite the door of the seat back 3 toward the occupant.
