The assembly unit of modular furniture formed of assembly nodes is made up essentially of a cylindrical element (1) carrying a cylindrical base part (4') of a smaller diameter and surmounted by a cylindrical vertical piece (4). The base part and the vertical piece are covered by a sleeve (6) of the same diameter as the cylindrical element. The cylindrical element (1), contains a threaded tube (2) placed in its centre, and provided with a circular upper raised edge so that four cavities define a flat surface on the upper part, disposed symmetrically in relation to the central tube and presenting at the summit an opening in the form of a flattened arch, which allows the insertion and adjusted into place ovoidal shaped blanking elements (3,8) forming an assembly entirely flat at the summit.
