The applicator (10) for a liquid (P) comprises a liquid reservoir (1). The reservoir has a bottom (2) and an opening sealed by an obturator (7). The applicator (8) is carried by a rod (9) fixed to the obturator. The applicator has a dryer (11,12,13) located near the opening through which the applicator passes. The dryer comprises a sleeve (12) and drying of the applicator is effected by surface tension during its passage through the sleeve. The sleeve has a minimum internal diameter greater than the applicator maximum diameter. The sleeve internal surface retains, by surface tension, a reserve of product. The surface tension force exerted between the sleeve internal surface and the product it retains is greater than the surface tension force exerted between the applicator free end and the product.
