The laces (2) of the shoes each have a sliding sleeve on them. This is transparent and is made of thermo- retractable material. The sleeve is placed at the length of the lace that is wanted. The sleeve is heated, for example with a lighter, to shrink it on to the lace and the excess lace can then be cut off.
