The closure device is located in the separation joints (expansion joints) between the end sides of floor-covering panels. The intension is for these to be positioned at the desired spacing during laying without special help. The closure device is intended to close off the separation joints in a water-tight manner. It comprises metal rails which are adhesively bonded onto the end sides and are recessed on their mutually facing sides. A profile moulding consisting of a permanently elastic material is introduced into said metal rails.
