A spacer grid provides lateral support to fuel pins of a nuclear fuel element. The fuel pins are supported by spring rosettes (7), which are formed from the wall (1) of the spacer grid and which comprise a knob (2) pressed in the wall (1) and at least one curved slit (3, 4) arranged around the knob (2), so that the is connected to the wall (1) by strips (5, 6) which act as springs. The slits (3, 4) can be arranged so that the connecting strips (5, 6) are spiral, curved, serpentine, and/or interconnected, e.g. as concentric rings.
