Tyre with low rolling resistance

Tyres are claimed with a low rolling resistance, in which the tread consists of a rubber mixture (I) containing a rubber component (A) with carbon black (B) and silica (C) as reinforcing substances. Rubber (A) contains at least 70 wt% natural rubber (NR), and the mixture (I) also contains a surface-treated calcium carbonate (D) with a surface area (by nitrogen adsorption) of 15 m<2>/g or more and 0-5 phr plasticiser (E) (phr = pts. wt. per 100 pts. wt. rubber), the amounts of the various additives being related as follows (based on phr in each case): (1) (B + 0.75C) = 35-50 phr, (2) 0.75 /* (C)/(B) = 0.2-1.0, and (3) (D)/(C) = 0.05-0.40. Also claimed are tyres with a low rolling resistance in which the tread is made by moulding and vulcanising a rubber mixture as above containing a silane coupling agent in amounts of 0.05-1.5 times the wt. of silica (C) plus a hardener, and in which the amounts of fillers satisfy the above conditions.
