The vehicle has an engine (1) driving hydraulic pumps (7A-7C) supplying actuators (8a-8b) The engine speed is controlled by a regulator (4). The operational use of the machine is determined by measuring the engine speed (Ne) and the difference from the command value. These signals together with signals from the actuator detection circuit (10) and the fuel level sensor (6b) are fed to an arithmetic processor to determine net operating time and fuel consumption.
