The container (10) consists of two coaxially interfitting sleeves. The inner sleeve (20) containing the tooth-pick is shaped at its holder end (20A) so that it releases the tooth pick when it is slid out of the outer sleeve (30). The axial movement of the holder end is limited by a thicker part (21) whose outer cross-section extends over the inner cross-section of the outer sleeve. A spring (40) between the inner and outer sleeve is supported between an outer annular shoulder (22) on the operating end (20B) of the inner sleeve, and an inner annular shoulder (32) in the outer sleeve.
