SCANNING LASER OPHTHALMOSCOPE

An ophthalmoscope comprises means (7, 9) to generate a raster scan of laser light, and detects reflections of such light from the fundus (11) of a patient's eye (10). The laser light originates from sources (2) of at least three distinct wavelengths (preferably red, green and blue respectively) and is mixed to provide a single beam that, for each resolvable picture element of the raster scan, assumes in sequence each of the said wavelengths. The reflected light is used to generate a multi-coloured image of the fundus (11).
