<p>An apparatus and method for tracking inventory for goods having a variety of styles and characteristics, and which have a variety of possible shipping destinations. The apparatus of the invention includes a multi-part label (30) that is attachable to each of the goods (20) and has a removable portion (40) that can be detached from the original label (30) and reapplied to a shipping carton (24) for a collection of goods (20). The method of the invention includes utilizing information from indicia (42, 44) applied to each of the goods (20) in conjunction with an inventory distribution system and shipping cartons (24) to keep track of the location of all goods (20) at any time between sorting the goods (20) for shipping and packing the goods (20) for shipment, without requiring any manual steps, such as scanning, during sorting and packing of the goods.</p> |
