An LCD is provided to increase the response speed of liquid crystals by using a tilting member for pre-tilting the liquid crystals, and improve the viewing angle by diversifying the tilting directions of the liquid crystals in all directions. A pixel electrode(191) is formed above a first substrate(110), wherein the pixel electrode includes a reflective electrode(194) and a transparent electrode(192). A second substrate(210) faces the first substrate. A common electrode(270) is formed above the second substrate, wherein the common electrode faces the pixel electrode. A liquid crystal layer(3) is positioned between the common electrode and the pixel electrode. Tilting members(330a,330b) are formed above at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate. The thickness of the tilting member gets thinner from the center portion to the edge of the tilting member. At least a portion of the tilting member is formed at a position corresponding to the reflective electrode.
