<p>A motorized tablet dispenser provides a tablet hopper mechanism suitable for storage of an entire prescription of tablets. A disk-like loading plate (325) is carried at the base of the tablet hopper (300), and provides radially arrayed tablet voids (327) and a spur gear perimeter (329). The loading plate (325) is rotated by means of a high torque, low speed, geared motor (350). Each major type, size and shape of tablet is associated with a loading plate (325) having voids (327) sized to fit that tablet, and any loading plate (325) may be installed in a dispenser. An easily operated pushbutton mechanism (100) translates linear motion along a vertical axis into angular motion about a horizontal axis of a tablet transfer mechanism (150). A single tablet is moved from the loading plate (325) into a tablet recess (152) in the tablet transfer mechanism (150).</p> |
