<p>In a hand-controlled accelerator to be secured to the gear lever of an automobile by screws 87, rotation of a knob 5 and intermediate member 4 secured thereto raises a non-rotatable inner member 1 and pulls an accelerator cable 2 thereby increasing speed. The knob can be held in a desired position by spring-biassed balls 83 engaging in selected recesses (512, figure 2). When the driver applies the brake, the inner member will be pulled to its lowest position by a further cable 3 thus preventing operation of the accelerator cable. Engagement of projection 551 of lock 55 with recess 71 in the gear lever will prevent rotation of the knob, and depressing button 54 will activate a horn.</p> |
