摘要	<p>A waste water treatment basin (1) applies intensive biological treatment in an assembly holding free-moving floating substrate bodies (2) which provide a substrate for resident micro-biological colonies. The floating bodies (2) share the treatment chamber with activated sludge (6). Cranked mixer (7) paddles (3) rotate within the water (4) and also lift the bodies (2) clear of the water surface. The free-moving substrate bodies (2) are fabricated in Xylith and immobilise primarily nitrificants; or they are fabricated in recycled plastic with a structured surface in high pressure polyethylene.</p>
