The side airbag is covered by a material seat cover. A textile part (10,11) with higher tear resistance than tear line is fixed each side of the airbag at a defined tear line (8) on the material cover. The textile parts can be fixed on the side of the material cover facing the inside of the seat. During activation of the airbag the seat tears at the boundary of the reinforcing textile parts.
