FIELD: chemistry, more specifically, production of powdery metal oxides, in particular tin dioxide used as components of ceramic mixtures, glazes, pigments and also in electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes oxidation of metal powder in shaft furnace at 1000-1200 C by supplying metal powder from below upward mixed with air flow in injector. Oxygen excess amounts to 20-200% of stoichiometric. EFFECT: provision of production of finely divided powders of metal oxides, for instance, tin dioxide from metal powders, simplification of the process, higher reliability and safety. 2 cln
