The personal certificate is written into the ID card by a trusted provider and this part can be not be changed by anyone, the card holder included, whilst the list of links to external certificates can be changed by the card holder using a special program normally kept on a PC, after having first accessed the program using a PIN-code. Each link in the list contains a URL for an external certificate server and a description name, and a number of parameters for controlling the processing of the authentication and signing steps. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The ID card contains a personal certificate and a list of links to external server-based certificates. A scanning device is used to couple the card to a computerised station (e.g. computer, telephone or terminal) providing access to secure or private services or resources via the internent, local network, telephone connection, radio link etc. Card authentication and signing are carried out using a program on the computer. |
