FIELD: change of ship's heading, braking and stopping of ship in an emergency. SUBSTANCE: device includes at least one plate located in hull recess and provided with drive for its motion in water and cylinder; above-mentioned plate is secured on end of piston of this cylinder. Drive for motion of plate is made in form of adjustable source of pressure medium which is connected with above-piston chamber of cylinder. Rod chamber and above-piston chamber of cylinder are communicated with atmosphere through controllable valves. Piston is provided with mechanism for returning it to initial position; special latch is provided for keeping the piston in initial position. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 3 cl, 1 dwgd
