A capsule tensioning ring for stabilising the eye capsule, comprises an open ring made of an elastic material, eg PMMA, with an opening at the open end of the ring. The tensioning ring (1) has a flat plate (2) at the second end, which has a manipulation opening. The cross section of the ring material is a flattened circle (6), where the flattened sections are in the circle plane.The larger ring plate is pref. elliptical.
