FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes method of preparing 1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-iodopyrazolone-5 (iodantipyrine) having antipyretic and antineurologic effect. This agent is part of antiasthamic drugs such as relsol, vastylen and shows high activity against iodation of anti or salt thereof with benzenesulfonic acid (BSA) is carried out in aqueous, aqueous organic or organic solvents with iodating mixture composed of potassium iodine, hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid which is added at temperature not higher than 45 C, more preferably 2-10 C, or iodation is carried out in aqueous alcoholic medium of BSA and potassium iodide, and aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide is added at temperature ranging from 30 C to boiling temperature of the mixture. Claimed method of preparing iodantipirine is superior over the prior art and allows obtaining high yields of the desired product, using accessible raw material and reagents and reducing the number of technological operations.
