PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of substantially packing void between optical fiber conductors by including oil comprising specific components, a copolymer having a specific composition, a photooxidation inhibitor and a metal inactivating agent. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) 85-95pts.wt. oil selected from a group comprising (i) naphthenic mineral oil containing 45-50wt.% naphthenes and the balance of paraffin, (ii) a poly-α-olefin and a mixture thereof, (B) 5-15 pts.wt. styrene-(ethylene/propylene)-diblock copolymer, (C) <2 pts.wt. photooxidation inhibitor and (D) <0.1 pts.wt. metal inactivating agent. Satisfactory properties capable of exhibiting and retaining flexibility and uniformity over -40 deg.C to 80 deg.C, being thermally stable and stable to oxidation and preventing impregnation of water into a cable can be expected thereby. |
