PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bio-absorbing material useful for the material of a wound bandage for suppressing coaptation, for hemostasis, or for controlling the discharge of a chemical at a relatively low cost by containing a carboxylic acid portion cyclically oxidized at a specific portion in a specific oxidized methyl cellulose. SOLUTION: This bio-absorbing material is offered in the form of a film, gel, powder, a fiber mat, or gauze, it contains a methyl cellulose oxide having the substitution ratio of 0.50-1.92 before oxidation, and a bio-absorbing and water soluble carboxylic acid portion cyclically oxidized by 3-10% is contained in the methyl cellulose oxide. The absorbing material contains oxidized polysaccharides, preferably a cellulose derivative, a cellulose fabric is impregnated with the cellulose derivative, a composite material of the cellulose derivative and the cellulose fabric is oxidized to manufacture the absorbing material, and the obtained bio-absorbing material is applied at a portion of the body liable to coaptation. |
