PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery, improved in a self- discharge characteristic in storing at high temperature, and moreover in a charging/discharging cycle life or reliability after assembling. SOLUTION: This battery is provided with a vessel 1, a paste type positive electrode 2 including nickel hydroxide housed in the vessel 1, a paste type negative electrode 4 including hydrogen storage alloy housed in the vessel 1, a separator 3 housed in the vessel 1 so as to be positioned between the positive and negative electrodes 2 and 4, an alkaline electrolyte housed in the vessel 1. The separator 3 comprises sheetlike material including a polyolefine synthetic resin fiber, and the sheetlike material is graft-copolymerized by a vinyl monomer having a carboxyl group, and also the carboxyl group exists in the form of salt substituted by cation having bivalent or more. |
