PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously retrieve plural electronized dictionaries at the performing KANA (Japanese syllabary)-KANJI (Chinese character) conversion by connecting a Japanese dictionary and a Japanese-English dictionary to each other based upon a converted KANJI word as an index thereby retrieving them, and displaying the KANJI word, KANJI word examples and English words collectively. SOLUTION: When an operator makes a request to connect or disconnect a KANJI dictionary 81, the Japanese dictionary 82, and the Japanese-English dictionary as electronized dictionaries 8 connected to a word processor 9, a dictionary connecting means 2 selects a process according to a set kind and process a dictionary management file 6. When the operator inputs a document during document preparations on the work processor 9 and makes a request for retrieval from a dictionary, a dictionary retrieval request means 3 passes the document to a dictionary retrieval means 4. Then the dictionary retrieval means 4 finds target information in the connected dictionary by referring to the dictionary management file 6 and expands it in a dictionary expansion area 6, and a dictionary information output means 7 edits the dictionary information in the dictionary expansion area 6 into a screen layout and outputs it. |
