<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate gesture input from handwritten character input by prior recognition analysis relating to stroke characteristics such as the count, size and position, etc., of the strokes in real time when the respective strokes are plotted. SOLUTION: A personal computer system 10 is provided with a processor 11 provided with a CPU 15 and a random access memory 13. Further, it is provided with an additional memory by a hard disk storage device 17 and a floppy disk device 19. Then, a set of the strokes inputted to the computer system 10 by a pen or a stylus 29 is detected and the respective strokes are successively analyzed so as to check whether or not a set of characteristics for indicating the handwritten character input or the gesture input is present. After analyzing the respective strokes, based on a set of the characteristics of all the analyzed strokes such as the count, the size and the position, etc., a set of the strokes is categorized as the gesture or handwritten character input.</p> |
