PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branching module suitable for use in an optical transmission of a multidrop circuit system. SOLUTION: When this module is used for a branching to transmit and receive an optical signal by being connected to an optical transmission line, this module is manufactured by forming graded index on a polymer planar transmissive body with respect to a main line waveguide 11 becoming a part of this optical transmission line by being connected to it and at least a pair of branch waveguides 21, 22 branched from the main line waveguide in one direction. And, the main line waveguide is built up by connecting a light receiving element 25 with one 21 of this pair of branch waveguides 21, 22, and connecting a light emitting element 26 with the other 22, and is supported by the module. Thus, it is possible to manufacture a small, easy-to-lay, and inexpensive optical transmission system. |
