PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode having a light reflecting layer which emits light with a smooth spectrum. SOLUTION: Light from an active layer 20 toward a light emitting surface 30 is emitted from the light emitting surface 30. On the other hand, light from the active layer 20 toward a substrate 12 is reflected by a light reflecting layer 16 toward the active layer 20, and through the active layer 20, emitted from the light emitting surface 30. When the light is emitted through the light emitting surface 30, a part of the light is reflected from the light emitting surface 30 toward the inside. A reflection preventing film 34 formed on the light emitting surface 30 suppresses the reflected light toward the light reflecting layer 16. This prevents occurrence of optical resonance between the light emitting surface 30 and the light reflecting layer 16, therefore, the light emitted from the light emitting surface 30 has a smoothly continuous spectrum. |
